Story Drama (Primary/Junior): In this interactive workshop, teachers will learn how to use a picture book as the framework for a drama class. With tableaux, movement and role-play, teachers will explore the plot, characters and themes of the story. By the end of this workshop, teachers will be able to lead a Story Drama lesson that covers many aspects of the drama curriculum.
Theme Theatre (Intermediate/Secondary): Through a step by step process of play creation, teachers will learn exercises to help students create a dramatic piece based on a social theme such as body image, bullying or substance abuse. At the completion of this workshop, teachers will be able to lead exercises in scene creation, duologue writing and gesture-based movement work. Teachers will be able to select exercises from a comprehensive hand out to create their own class play.
“Erin presented an excellent workshop to my students in the AQ course in Dramatic Arts. She guided the teachers through the workshop by providing step-by-step examples of the writing process aided by an easy to follow handout. The teachers successfully participated in all the activities and many of them expressed interest in inviting Erin to their schools. ”- Victoria Augustynek – Principal, Holy Family Catholic School
