Montparnasse

“The script is as sophisticated as it is compelling, and the brilliant use of nudity gilds the lily. In fact, everything about this show is perfection.” -Paula Citron, Classical 96.3FM

Created by The Company

Written and Performed by Maev Beaty and Erin Shields

Directed and Dramaturged by Andrea Donaldson

An erotic submersion into the world of artist models in Paris in the 1920s, with appearances by the artists of the time including Jules Pascin, Henry Miller, Sylvia Beech, Kiki, Soutine and the muses who inspired them. Montparnasse invites you to peek behind the canvas and discover a rich culture of voyeurism, paint, sexual autonomy, nakedness, identity, anonymity, jealousy, ego, cruelty and the Divine Muse. As Amelia & Margaret leave Canada to enter a world brimming with Bohemian writers and artists, they are engulfed by their desire for truth, passion and power.
