The world’s oldest story is more relevant than ever in its exploration of strength without control, power without moderation and a culture unable to perceive the cost of its supreme might. History’s parallels are extraordinary – this is the story of Troy, of Rome, the Crusades, Napoleon, Imperialism, Colonialism, indeed of modern Iraq under whose sands Gilgamesh’s city now lays…. The face of hubris, power, fear and greed has changed so little over the millennia.

“[Shields’] writing has both wit and weight – colloquial one moment, incantory the next – and it always holds the stage... Gideon Arthurs’ production is very impressive...” – Robert Cushman, National Post
